[Founder Feature @TC] July 2019
Name: Arvin Singh, Co-founder & COO, 33yo, Canadian
Technopreneur Circle member: Since May 2018
Company: hoolah (Fintech)
Website: www.hoolah.co
Fun facts about me:
I’m a big basketball fan and supporting my home team Toronto Raptors, even if the time zones make it tough to watch games!
The company under 20 words:
hoolah is a retail technology business providing instalment payments with zero interest.
What my company name & logo means:
The name hoolah comes from the Chinese characters 后来 (hòulái) which means later. It is pronounced as ‘hula’. With hoolah, you can buy now, pay later.
Why I started the company & my journey so far:
We started hoolah to make responsible affordability a reality across Asia. This means allowing consumers to buy the things they want and need, without the burden of onerous interest payments. It also means doing so in a transparent, responsible manner with the right thresholds in place.
My lightbulb advice:
It is easy to be distracted – keep reminding yourself that. Also, try to get as much data / feedback from relevant parties (e.g. potential customers, industry experts).
I’m currently looking for:
Investors, Partners, Talents (team members)
