Bitcoin has been the buzzword for the past few years. While its future remains debatable, blockchain has been rising in its own right. Solutions like Ethereum have taken the world by storm.
As of Q1 2016, total venture capital investment in bitcoin and blockchain startups exceeded $1.1 billion with blockchain funding overtaking bitcoin. The total value of “ethers”, the cryptocurrency that runs on the Ethereum platform, is closely approaching $1 billion.
For this session of the Technopreneur Circle event, we are honored to have Vitalik Buterin, the co-creator of Ethereum and Partner at blockchain-focused VC Fenbushi Capital, to share his insights on the future of blockchain, opportunities for startups, and its impact on Singapore’s smart nation vision.
Vitalik Buterin Biography:
Vitalik is the creator of Ethereum. He first discovered blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies through Bitcoin in 2011, and was immediately excited by the technology and its potential. He cofounded Bitcoin Magazine in September 2011, and after two and a half years looking at what the existing blockchain technology and applications had to offer, wrote the Ethereum white paper in November 2013. He now leads Ethereum’s research team, working on future versions of the Ethereum protocol.
